Women And America: 10 Worst US States For Women
10 Worst States For Women
WalletHub recently conducted a study ranking U.S. states based on women’s economic and social well-being, alongside their safety and healthcare. The findings highlighted a notable trend: “red” or Republican-leaning states tended to rank lower on the list, indicating potential challenges these states face in ensuring the well-being and safety of women.
This comprehensive analysis sheds light on the disparities women experience across different regions, emphasizing the need for targeted improvements in policy and support.
10. Missouri
Missouri is in the Midwest and doesn’t do well in taking care of women’s money matters or their health and safety. It’s 42nd in how well women live and work and 39th in health and safety for women. A report says Missouri is one of the most dangerous states for women, with many facing violence from a partner or stalking. About 42 out of 100 women in Missouri have faced this, while about 35 out of 100 men have too.
9. Georgia
Georgia is not great for women’s money and social life or their health and safety, ranking 43rd and 42nd. A study showed that women who work full time all year make about $48,397, while men make $58,853.
8. Wyoming
Wyoming is also not doing great for women, being 45th for their living and working conditions and 44th for health and safety. It’s also one of the states where women earn the least.
7. West Virginia
West Virginia is near the bottom for how well women live and work, and it’s almost last for how safe and healthy they are. A report says a woman in West Virginia will earn $483,000 less than a man over her life.
6. Arkansas
Arkansas is low on the list for how women live and work, and it’s last for keeping them safe and healthy. A group that helps with domestic violence says about 37 out of 100 women in Arkansas will face violence from a partner at least once.
5. Texas
Texas isn’t doing well for women’s work and life conditions, ranking 47th, and it’s also low for health and safety.
4. Alabama
Even though more than half of Alabama’s people are women, the state ranks very low for women’s work, life, and health. It’s 49th for how women live and work and 43rd for health.
3. Mississippi
Mississippi is one of the worst for women’s money, work, and health, ranking 48th in both. It has very strict rules on abortion, only allowing it in very serious situations.
2. Louisiana
Louisiana is very poor, and women especially have a hard time making enough money. It’s the worst for women’s work and life and also low for health and safety.
1. Oklahoma
Oklahoma is the worst state for women, being the lowest for health and safety and almost the lowest for work and life. It has very strict abortion laws and a lot of domestic violence against women.
