When people from other countries visit or move to the United States, they often find some aspects of American housing quite surprising. That was my case! When I moved to the USA, I noticed a lot of differences regarding housing habits and features. These features, which might seem ordinary to Americans, can be quite unexpected to those from different backgrounds. Here, I’ve listed 10 American housing things that surprise foreigners.
1. Living in a trailer park is common
In the U.S., living in a trailer park is more common than in many other countries. These communities consist of mobile homes or trailers that are a more affordable housing option. They offer a sense of community and can be found across the country, providing a unique living experience that combines affordability with a tight-knit neighborhood feel. They’re also much cheaper which allows smaller budget units to move closer to cities.
