Europeans Are Sometimes Jealous Of These 10 American Things
America is always made fun of by Europeans. And for good reasons (at least sometimes). From an excessively expensive medical system to the lack of public transportation, Europeans are far from lacking US things to point out.
But we thought it was time to instil a bit of positivity and highlight American things that Europeans would like more of! America is a huge country and obviously not all Americans are the same.
The same applies to Europeans of course! However, there are some general American differences that often leave Europeans a bit envious. Let’s see if you agree with these ten aspects of America that sometimes make Europeans wish for a taste of the American dream.
1. Road Trip Culture
In America, driving for hours to a shopping destination or for a casual visit is pretty standard. This openness to long drives for everyday activities is quite different from Europe, where shorter distances are the norm. This aspect of American life highlights a sense of adventure in daily routines that Europeans might not usually experience.

2. Diverse Landscapes
The United States offers a large variety of landscapes within its borders, from deserts to lush forests, which allows for a dramatic change of scenery without leaving the country. In contrast, experiencing such diversity in Europe typically means crossing national borders, which isn’t quite the same seamless experience.
3. Vacation Options
The vastness of the United States offers endless vacation possibilities without the need for international travel. From sunny beaches to snowy mountains, Americans have access to an impressive range of holiday destinations within their own country, a luxury that Europeans, constrained by smaller national territories, might envy.
4. Wildlife Variety
Seeing a moose or bison is part of the everyday possibilities in certain parts of the United States, showcasing the country’s incredible wildlife diversity. I know that when I saw a moose in my backyard in the US, I felt super lucky! While Europe has its own beautiful wildlife, the variety and size of American animals are something Europeans find extraordinary.
5. National Parks
The U.S. is home to some of the world’s most unique national parks, like Bryce Canyon, offering landscapes that are vastly different from what’s typically found in Europe. Though Europe has its scenic spots, the grandeur and uniqueness of American national parks are something many Europeans admire.

6. Enthusiastic Mindset
Americans often approach life with a “go for it” attitude, encouraging risk-taking and adventure. This enthusiastic mindset is somewhat less common in Europe, where a more cautious approach to new endeavors may prevail, making the American optimism particularly appealing.
7. Free Refills
The concept of free refills in restaurants, though available in some European places, is not widespread. This small but significant difference symbolizes the larger, generous portions and customer-first service mentality that pervades many American dining experiences.
8. Land of Opportunity
The United States is often seen as a land where opportunities are more abundant and accessible compared to Europe. This perception of greater openness in the job market and in business makes America an attractive prospect for those seeking to make their mark.
9. 24-Hour Convenience
The availability of 24-hour malls and restaurants in America is a convenience that many Europeans find remarkable. This round-the-clock service culture is less common in Europe, making the American lifestyle seem more accommodating and flexible.
10. Superior Customer Service
In America, a strong emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction, with staff readily available to assist you in stores and restaurants. This proactive approach to customer service is often contrasted with the more laid-back, sometimes indifferent attitude encountered in some European establishments, where requesting assistance can feel like an imposition.
