10 Last Minute Couple Costumes For Halloween With Things You Already Own (under 30 minute prep!)

In our 20’s, Eric and I would have spent money and time, sometimes weeks in advance, to plan our couple costumes for Halloween. Needless to say this isn’t the case anymore. 

One because, as a couple, we want to spend money differently. Second, because we often wake up on the 29th suddenly remembering that Halloween is indeed in two days and totally forgot about it!

If you’re anything like us, you’ll love these 2023 couple costumes for Halloween that you can recreate with things you already have! These shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes to put together which is great if you’ve got to find costumes last minute.

Some of these are pun Halloween couple costumes and some are based on movies or events that happened in 2023. The best part? It will make your date just as fun!

1. Bella and Edward (Twilight)

This Bella and Edward couple costume is the easiest one to create on this list. It requires absolutely no DIY!

What you need for this Halloween couple costume

For Bella:

• jeans
• a simple T-shirt
• a jacket with a hood
• headphones in your ears
• a backpack

Don’t forget to look awkward (wink wink) to perfect the look!

For Edward:

• sparkles on your face skin (use your girlfriend’s highlighter and go heavy!)
• a grey T-shirt or a collar shirt
• jeans
• darken your eyebrows (which will make you look paler)
• use makeup to make your lips more red (which will make you look paler too)
• brush your hair up

2. The Gamer and his mouse

This one is totally a pun and can also be a bit sexy!

What you need

For the Gamer:

• jeans and a T-shirt
• a headset with a mic attached to it if possible

For the Mouse:

• black outfit: this can be a long sleeve black dress or black jeans and a black T shirt
• a tail: you can make a tail out of a scarf by rolling and taping it or by taping pieces of paper. Don’t forget to use either a black scarf or to color your paper black.
• mouse buttons: on your back, stick two pieces of paper with one saying right and one saying left.
• makeup: you can do some bright and vibrant makeup on your eyes as a gamer’s mouse usually has colors blinking (officially called an RGB gaming mouse). 

3. Pirates

This is a classic Halloween costume that can easily be made into a couple’s costume. Note also that you don’t need to spend $50+ for pre-made costumes as you can just make them yourself.

What you need

For both:

• a hat (any hat you own really) or a head scarf: you can use a light scarf and tie around your head
• eye patch: make an eye patch with some medical tape and cotton or with a headband
• golden belts
• black boots

For him:

• jeans
• a white collar shirt, preferably a bit oversized

For her:

• a black or white short dress
• a corset if you own one

4. Blair and Chuck

A classic Gossip Girl couple costume for Halloween would be being Blair and Chuck. They’re in love, they’re classy and sometimes a little bit crazy which is perfect for Halloween!

What you need

For Chuck:

• simply wear a suit
• do your hair back
• add a cigar if you have one

For Blair:

• you’ve got a range of outfit choices from pleaded skirts and white shirts to ball gowns.
• sunglasses
• a handbag

5. Skeletons

What you need for both:

• wear all white and draw a skeleton on your cheap white T-shirts with a black pen
• makeup: use eyeliner and eye shadow to draw skeleton faces

6. Netflix and Chill

Though we tend to avoid mentioning Netflix and Chill on this site to provide you with better last minute date ideas instead, we have to admit, it’s a great couple costume for halloween to make last minute!

What you need

For Netflix:

• on a rectangle piece of cardboard, draw out the letters for Netflix and paint the space around it in red
• paint the letters white
• stick a cord onto the cardboard so you can pass it around your neck and the cardboard can hang in front of you.

For the Chill:

• wear white or light blue clothes
• wear gloves and a scarf
• makeup: paint your lips and eyes in a light blue collar
• if you have time, you can draw, cut and stick light blue snowflakes onto your white shirt

7. Barbie and Ken

In honor of the movie coming out in 2023, Barbie and Ken is a must costume to have for couples!

For Barbie:

• wear all bright pink, that’s it really!

For Ken:

• brush and gel hair back and to the side
• wear a blue short-sleeve shirt, and keep it open at the top
• blue jeans

8. You’re the Peanut Butter to my Jelly

For a cute last minute couple costume for Halloween 2023, be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This one requires a bit more DIY but is fairly simple to put together. 

What you need

For both:

• two large pillowcases
• scissors
• pink and brown paint
• open cut the two pillowcases to have two large rectangles
• fold the pillowcases on the narrowest side. On the fold cut a half circle to end up making a hole for your head. Do this for both pillowcases. They should look similar to ponchos.

For the Peanut butter:

• Paint the edges of the pillowcase in light brown
• Paint the middle of the pillowcase in a similar brown, making strikes as if it were peanut butter
• wear black clothes under the pillowcase

For the Jelly:

• Paint the edges of the pillowcase in light brown
• Paint the middle of the pillowcase in pink for the jelly
• wear black clothes under the pillowcase

9. Candy Crush

This last minute couple costume idea for Halloween is super cute for couples that love a pun!

What you need

• cardboard or paper
• scissors
• paint or colored pencils
• tape or glue

For Candy:

• wear bright coloured clothes
• cut candy shaped pieces of cardboard or paper
• color them in bright colors like blue, red, pink and green
• stick them onto your white clothes with tape or glue

For Crush:

• wear white clothes
• cut out your cardboard or paper into a big heart, the size of your chest
• paint or color it red
• stick it onto your white shirt

There you have it, together you’re Candy Crush!

10. The mummy and the Sphinx

If you’re looking for a last minute couple costume for Halloween that would be classified as more scary than cute, this one is for you!

What you need

• a white pillowcase
• black and gold/yellow paint
• a white scarf
• a couple rolls of sports medical tape (you can find this at any local pharmacy)

For the mummy:

• wear one colour clothes. It can be white or black
• wrap yourself in the sports medical tape
• wrap your arms, around your belly and legs. 
• don’t forget to wrap one band around your forehead for the final touch!

For the Sphinx:

• cut the pillowcase open so it become a long rectangle
• trace large stripes on the pillowcase on the smallest width side
• paint every other stripe gold and the rest black
• pin the pillowcase on your hair so it acts as a wig (you can roll it a bit to give it volume)
• wear a black outfit 
• set the white scarf around the neck but don’t roll it around. Simple let it fall so you have two long pieces on each side. 
• you can add some eyeliner for the final touch
