These Are The Most 9 Disappointing Attractions In Europe according To Tourists
Europe just like any other places is not perfect. In a recent thread, visitors shared the European attractions that disappointed them the most during their trip. Some are expected while some are surprising or even a bit unfair. Check them out and let us know if you agree or disagree!
1. The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen
Tourists have reported that The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen was very disappointing. They expected the statue to be similar to the Statue of Liberty in NYC and therefore, a statue one can actually visit.
2. Madame tussauds
One London tourist shared the following: “Madame Tussauds is overpriced, extremely busy and honestly boring.” Many other agreed and over 500 people approved the comment.
3. Stonehenge
We have to admit this one surprised us! And actually, it sparks quite the debate among visitors. Some hated it blaming the long drive and the crowd while others disagreed and loved it. one alternative visitors encouraged visiting is Avebury which they noted is less crowded and offers the possibility to touch the stones.
4. The Mona Lisa
Over 700 people agreed with the statement that The Mona Lisa is overrated and completely disappointing. The main reasons for that had to do with the crowds and how small the painting actually is. I remember being disappointed by it myself so I can’t argue here!
5. Paris All together
Over 500 people argued that Paris is overrated and completely disappointing in some areas. One tourist especially noted that it’s far from being picture perfect as in the movies.
6. Temple Bar
I’m quite sad Temple Bar made this list but the people have spoken so we’ve got to report their voice! Visitors have noted that it’s too crowded with tourists and lost its authenticity. Add to that overpriced food and the same songs on repeat, it’s no surprise visitors aren’t fans. Having lived in Dublin for several years, these are not really points we can argue with as they are true! That said, it’s still a fun place! More specifically, there is something magical when pubs are full and everyone is singing together at the top of their lungs.
7. Venice In the Summer
Tourists seem to agree that Venice is worth a visit but the summer crowds make it unbearable. therefore they recommend visiting in the winter or shoulder season and we couldn’t agree more. Even May or June aren’t as busy and just as nice weatherwise.
8. Oktoberfest
This one has come up in many online and real life discussions. Oktoberfest is a huge event in Germany and gathers millions of people from all over the world. But the event has gotten a bad reputation in the past few years. Known as unsafe, overpriced, overly crowded, it’s losing popularity. Instead Munich and Bavaria are great alternatives.
9. Manneken Pis
This small statue of a boy urinating in the centre of Brussels is known worldwide but apparently isn’t that popular! Tourists have been calling pointless and barely entertaining. Having seen it, it’s a funny statue to check out but you wouldn’t spend much time there. There are definitely better things to see in the city!
