Budget to eat at Milos restaurants
Milos restaurants are very varied in prices. You will find restaurants in Milos to eat for as little as a couple of euros per person. This is one of the reasons why we love Greece and the Greek islands so much. Whether it be the best restaurants in Paros, Santorini, Ios or Milos, we always find budget-friendly restaurants that offer excellent Greek food and services. Of course, you will also be able to find high-end restaurants and some in the middle price range.ย
Our budget to spend on Milos restaurants was between โฌ25 and โฌ30 a day essentially for dinner. All of our breakfasts were included with our accommodation, which I would recommend doing if you can. For our week long trip to Milos Greece, we stayed in Adamas at the Tsakanos Apartments. For breakfast, we just selected the items we wanted and the hotel delivered them every morning to our apartment. It included bread, pastries, ham, eggs, Greek specialties, fruits and more. It was perfect and helped us with our food budget as it allowed us to save more money to spend on dinner. As for lunch, we either saved some of our breakfast the days we had a small breakfast or bought groceries at the local grocery store. In Greece, you will find canned salads (between โฌ3 and โฌ5), tomatoes, and fruits that are great and easy to bring to the beach for example.ย
Insider tip: There is one thing to be mindful of when going to Milos restaurants. At a couple of the restaurants we went to, we were presented with a small appetiser after sitting down. Just know that this appetiser is not free and will be billed to you at the end of your meal. Ours ended up being between โฌ1,50 and โฌ2,50.
Portions at the restaurants in Milos
At most of Milos restaurants, we noticed that the portions were very generous. And trust me, we can eat quite a bit! The portions were so big you could easily share a main dish. As a couple on a budget, you could also each order a main dish and then ask for a takeaway box and save it for lunch the next day, which we did a couple of times.
Best Milos restaurants in Adamas
Adamas is the main town on Milos island. It is also the town with most of Milos restaurants making it the perfect place to have dinner.
Elia restaurant
Elia restaurant was one of the best Milos restaurants we tried. This restaurant is located by the sea on the opposite side of the port. It is one of the first restaurants on the left when arriving to Adamas from the airport. Tables are available both inside the restaurant or on the other side of the street by the sea.
Although the restaurant was full when we arrived, we were able to be put on a waiting list for 15 minutes. While waiting, we had a drink and then were sat at our table by the sea.
To start, we ordered some dolmades, a Greek specialty to share. The dolmades were accompanied by Greek yoghurt. Then, we ordered a lamb Kleftiko and Osobuko. The lamb Kleftiko arrived wrapped in oven paper and was cooked with potatoes. The Osobuko was lamb on mash potatoes with a delicious sauce.
Our meal at Elia restaurant was delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection and so were the potatoes. Portions were very big. We could have easily shared one dish!
The meal and service were excellent. We also really appreciated the decor and the ambiance. With two sparkling waters, a coffee, and bread our bill was โฌ55,60. This is the most money we spent on dinner at a Milos restaurant and it was well worth it!
If you are planning on going to Elia restaurant on Milos, I would recommend booking a table when coming back from the beach so you donโt have to wait especially if you are having dinner between 8pm and 9pm.
Aggeliki
Aggeliki is the best dessert place in Adamas. It is located on the port, right at the bottom of the town. We ordered a Baklava with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolate milkshake. We were also brought a complementary bottle of water.
Eric had the baklava and loved it. The portion was also bigger than usual! I personally loved my chocolate milkshake. I have been to places in the past where milkshakes are made with ice and honestly those are disgusting. When coming to Aggeliki, I wanted a real milkshake and they did not disappoint. The milkshake was very rich in ice cream and no ice cubes were used in the making. My milkshake was also very big and it could have been easily shared between two people.
Service was also really good and fast even though the place was busy especially for takeaway.
My milkshake was โฌ6 and Ericโs baklava was โฌ6 also for a total of โฌ12.
If you want to share a milkshake or try a traditional Greek dessert, Aggeliki is the right place to go to.
Letโs meat
Letโs meat is a small restaurant located on the port. The day we ate at Letโs meat we were looking for a place that could make us good gyros. Letโs meat didnโt disappoint. We ended up ordering chicken gyros on a plate and they were delicious.
Again the portions were really big and we got to bring almost half our plates home. The chicken was cooked to perfection and so were the fries. They were generous with the yoghurt sauce that accompanied the meat.
Service was good and fast. Together with a beer and a water bottle, we ate for โฌ23,60. This place is definitely on the cheaper end (gyros were even cheaper) although delicious!
Flisvos
Flisvos is located on the port and offers lots of tables. Although the restaurant was really busy at the time we came, they were able to find us a table and we didnโt have to wait.
At Flisvos, we had a Greek salad, a moussaka and fried zucchini fries. Everything was really good. I have to say the zucchini fries were a bit disappointing but still good.
At Flisvos, we ate for โฌ28,30, including the dishes and a small sparkling water bottle. All together, Flisvos was good but maybe a bit overpriced.
New Malion
New Malion is a restaurant located by the sea. We had a hard time finding a table around 9pm as the place was very busy at that time. However, 30min later we were able to get a table.
The decor at New Malion was really cute and we liked having dinner with a nice ambiance by the water.
At New Malion, we were presented with some bread and some olive spread as an appetiser. We then each had a Souvlaki. Portions were big and everything was really good. We again brought some of it home with us because we couldnโt finish it.
Service at New Malion was a bit slow but the food was really good. All together with drinks we ate for โฌ22,50 which was a great price. We recommend this restaurant in Milos.
Mostra cocktail lounge bar
Mostra is a cocktail lounge bar located up the town of Adamas. To get to Mostra, you will need to walk along the port of Adamas until you see the big stairs on the right. Those stairs will take you to Mostra.
I highly recommend Mostra. Once sitted, you will have a beautiful view on the port, the yachts and the bay of Milos. It is the perfect place to have drinks with your partner for a romantic date. At Mostra, we had one cocktail and one mocktail for a total of โฌ21.
Alevromilos
Alevromilos is a restaurant located on the side of the road coming from Sarakiniko or Pollonia to Adamas. We stopped here on our way back from the beach to have a drink. We were welcomed very nicely and sat down at the table of our choice.
Alevromilos is a very cute place with lots of space outside and nice trees and plants decorating the place. If you come around sunset, you will be able to watch the sun set on the mountains from your table.
At Alevromilos, we had two drinks, a coke zero and a beer for about โฌ5.
Milos Pizzeria Aktaion Pizza Bar
Aktaion Pizzeria is the best restaurant in Milos for pizza. It is located on the port of Adamas with a nice ambiance. We went to Aktaion twice. The first time, we shared a Greek salad and a Hawaiian pizza for a total of โฌ18,20.
The second time, we shared another Greek salad and a pizza. This time we got a half Hawaiian and half Greek pizza. I recommend both as they were very good.
OโHamos, one fo the most traditional Milos restaurants
Oโ Hamos is one of the most desired Milos restaurant in Adamas. It is located about 15min walking from the town centre of Adamas. There is a small parking lot nearby if you donโt want to walk.
We tried to eat there a couple of times but each time the line was really long and we were told we probably wouldnโt be able to get a table before 11pm when arriving at 8pm. Some people had be lining up for an hour already and were still waiting. The restaurant does not take booking for the next day but I believe you can book on the day if you manage to come at a time where the restaurant is open.
All together, it was too much of a hassle to get a table there. If you do manage to get in though, let us know what you thought about it in the comments below!
Zygos, one of the most authentic Milos restaurants
Zygos is the other most seeked out restaurant in Adamas. It is located in the streets of Adamas a couple of minutes walking from Tsakanos Apartments where we were staying.
Zygos is a traditional restaurant managed by a Greek family. We really wanted to eat there but the two first times we came, there was a big line waiting and no sight of us getting a table at all. The second time, we decided to book a table for the next day which worked out fine for us.
At Zygos, we ordered a Greek salad, a moussaka, fried cheeseballs, and a chocolate mozaik dessert. Everything at Zygos is homemade and traditional Greek food. I wasnโt a big fan of the cheeseballs (just personal preference) but the rest of the food was delicious.
Adding a water bottle, our total was โฌ24,40 which was one of the cheapest bill we had at a Milos restaurant! Zygos was totally worth it . We would definitely recommend Zygos for a romantic dinner on a budget! Donโt forget to book in advance though.
Best Milos restaurants in Pollonia
Pollonia is a small town on the east side of the island. Although quite small, it is very charming as it is located right by the beach and very picturesque. There are a few restaurants and bars there.
During our visit of Pollonia after coming back from the beach, we decided to have a drink at Hanabi Seaside sushi. Hanabi Seaside Sushi is a cute restaurant with a nice hipster ambiance. It is a bit more expensive than other places though. I had a homemade lemonade and Eric had a beer. For those two drinks, we paid about โฌ14.
After dinner in Adamas, whether on the port or by the beach, I recommend taking a walk to the pleasure port. There you will see lots of yachts and sailing boats but also boat tour companies if you want to book one for the next day. If you still have it in you after a day of adventure, I recommend going up the town all the way to the church!
Best Milos restaurants in Agia Kyriaki
Agia Kyriaka is a nice beach in the south of Milos island. We found out about Agia Kyriaki as it was where we rented our private boat to go to Kleftiko.
After a half day boating to Kleftiko, we wanted to have a drink and went to Thalassopetra Tavern which is located right by the beach. Service was really food and we had a good time there. We canโt speak much of the food but the restaurant has a nice view on the beach and on the sea which was really nice.
Best Milos restaurants in Klima
Klima is a small fishing town near Plaka. It is famous for its colourful houses located by the water.
Right by the beach, you will find Astakas Cafรฉ Restaurant. This is a great place to have a nice drink at sunset which is what we did. The view was beautiful, the service was great and we had a great time!
Top Greek Foods you should try at Milos Restaurants
While you are on Milos island, there are a few Greek foods and specialties that you must try.
Dolmades
Dolmades are a Greek specialty usually ordered as an appetiser. Dolmades are wine leaves stuffed with rice and Greek spices. Sometimes they are served with a salad, sometimes with a sauce and sometimes with both. They also vary in size quite a bit. Dolmades can also be stuffed with mince meat in addition to the rice and spices.
Moussaka
Moussaka is one of my favourite Greek dish. It is an oven dish made with potatoes, vegetables, mince meat and cheese. It is delicious and definitely worth trying.
Greek Salad
Greek salads are a Greek statement and you should definitely try one. They are made with fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers and Greek olives and topped with a square of Feta cheese. Doesnโt get more Greek than that!
Lamb, one of the best dish to get at Milos restaurants
Lamb is not a dish as such but when eating in Greece, the lamb is sourced locally. Trust me, you will want to order a lamb dish at one of those Milos restaurants for sure. Every time I have ordered lamb in Greece, the meat was tender and literally melting in my mouth!
Gyros, the cheapest dish to get at Milos restaurants
A gyros is a pita bread rolled up and stuffed with chicken or lamb, tomatoes, salad, onions and sauce. It is similar to a kebab wrap. Gyros are usually cheap and can be eaten on the go.
Souvlaki
Souvlaki is essentially the same as a gyros except it is served on a plate. Sometimes the meat comes on a skewer as well.
Baklava
Baklava is a dessert made with layered filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and syrup. It is usually served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is definitely a very sweet dessert but worth trying!
