10 Surprising Spring Date Ideas Your Partner Will Love

After spending so much time indoors, cuddled up against the chill (literally hibernating), spring gives us a chance to shake things up and add some fun and freshness to being together.ย Sure, picnics and outdoor dinners are classic spring activities, and theyโ€™re lovely,ย but weโ€™re all about trying something a bit different this year.

1. Tandem Bike Ride

Weโ€™ve found that tandem bike rides areย great date ideasย for spring. To be frank, they always make us a bit grumpy at first because weโ€™re stuck (like really stuck) together. But itโ€™s a great activity to work on your teamwork and coordination. Thereโ€™s something really special about pedaling in sync and navigating different paths and routes together. Once you get in sync, youโ€™ll feel super powerful as a couple and connected.

2. Local Park Bingo

Weโ€™re both big fans of Bingo! We love to play movie bingo when weโ€™re too tired to go anywhere and weโ€™d prefer having a date at home. But during spring, you can take your bingo outside.

Local park bingo turned out to be one of our favorite activities lately. You can make your own spring bingo card filled with common sights you might find in our local parks, like a dog playing fetch, a specific type of tree, or someone jogging. You can also add certain flowers that weโ€™re used to see during spring like tulips.

Every time you see that item at the park, you cross the item off your card. The first one to cross an entire line wins.

3. Spring Photography Scavenger Hunt

Spring brings life back into the world around us, and what better way to capture its beauty than with a photography scavenger hunt? Hereโ€™s a list weโ€™ve put together, personalized to our area, to capture the essence of spring:

  • A blooming tulip
  • A busy bee on a flower
  • Fresh green leaves on trees
  • A bird building its nest
  • A berry bush beginning to fruit
  • A duck or swan in a nearby lake

4. Backyard Movie Picnic

Thereโ€™s something incredibly cozy and special about setting up a movie in your own backyard. You can lay out blankets, bring out the snacks, and choose a movie you both love.

Itโ€™s like having a private cinema under the stars. We especially enjoy the freedom to pause the movie for snack refills or just to chat about our favorite scenes. Itโ€™s a simple pleasure, but itโ€™s our way of making an ordinary evening feel like an event.

5. Spring Street Festival

No matter where you live, there has got to be a spring festival nearby. The streets come alive with music, art, and the scents of delicious food. We love wandering through the stalls, trying new foods, and picking up unique handmade crafts.

Itโ€™s a celebration of community and the vibrancy of spring. The festival atmosphere, filled with laughter and color, really embodies the spirit of renewal and joy that the season brings.

6. Botanical Garden Picnic

picnic in a botanical garden is one of our favorite spring activities. Itโ€™s a great way to be connected to each other and to nature while enjoying the sun and the fresh spring air.

We pack a basket with our favorite foods, a cozy blanket, and spend hours just being together in nature. Itโ€™s a simple pleasure that we think is the essence of enjoying the present moment.

7. Do A Treetop Adventure

I (Marie) used to love this activity but ever since I fell while climbing, Iโ€™m no longer a fan of heights. That said, we still recommend this activity for couples who are comfortable with being up in the air.

Youโ€™ll be navigating through obstacle courses, ziplined across trees, and will enjoy the thrill of being high above the ground. It is a great date idea to work together, support each other and encourage each other to be braver (unless youโ€™re like me and wonโ€™t get up a treetop ever again even if someone pays me lol).

8. Sunrise Walk With Take Away Breakfast And A View

Starting our day with a sunrise walk, takeaway breakfast in hand, is something we love to do. There is something special about taking the time to be together before the city is actually awake.

We find a spot with a beautiful view to watch the sunrise, enjoying the peaceful morning hours. We especially appreciate the quiet moments shared over breakfast, watching the world wake up.

9. Take An Edible Flower Class

Taking an edible flower class was an enlightening experience for us. Itโ€™s fascinating to learn about the different flowers we can eat, how to harvest them, and ways to incorporate them into our meals. Youโ€™ll like making colorful salads and decorating cakes with the flowers you learned about.

10. Go Berry Picking Together

Berry picking has become a cherished spring and summer tradition for us. We love spending the day in the sunshine, filling our baskets with fresh, juicy berries.

Thereโ€™s a simple joy in picking your own food, and we especially enjoy turning our harvest into delicious pies, jams, or just eating them fresh. Itโ€™s a sweet and satisfying outing that we look forward to every year.
