How to get to the best Antiparos beaches

Ferry to Antiparos beaches

How to get to Antiparos

Reaching Antiparos best beaches is quite easy and straightforward. First you will need to travel to Antiparos port. Second, you will need to reach the beaches from the port. We explain how in the following paragraphs.

To get to Antiparos, you will need to first reach Paros Island, its sister island. There are two ways to reach Paros, either by plane or by ferry. In the high season, there are ferries and flights from Athens and the main islands. You can check the ferry schedule on FerryScanner which is what we use to book our tickets.

Once you are in Paros, you will need to head to Pounta town, located just a few minute drive south of Parikia. There is a bus that can take you from Parikia to Pounta and then from Pounta to Parikia at the end of the day. This is the option we chose and everything was easy and straightforward. If you are visiting during the high season (we visited in September), there will be many people in your situation that can help you as well.  In Pounta, you can take the ferry for the Paros Antiparos route. You can buy tickets on the day.

The ferry ride is only 30 minutes and you can see Antiparos the whole time as both islands are really close. There are washrooms on board but there is no food or drinks, not that it’s really needed for 30 minutes. To enjoy the view to the fullest, head to the top deck but be mindful of your belongings as they can easily slide or fly into the water.

How do you get around Antiparos and how to reach Antiparos best beaches

Once you are on Antiparos Island, you will need to reach your favourite beach(es) for the day. There are a few beaches that are easily accessible by foot from Antiparos Port. We recommend just walking if you are only staying for the day as it will keep your day trip much cheaper. However, if you are staying for a couple of days, you might want to consider renting a car or an ATV. Other options to reach more remote Antiparos beaches include renting bicycles from Antiparos port or taking the bus from the port.

How much time should you stay on Antiparos to see the best beaches

Antiparos best beaches are numerous and you would need to spend a couple of days on the island to see them all. Antiparos is quite a small island so going to the beach is the main activity. We would not recommend staying more than 2 or 3 days on Antiparos. If you stay longer, you’ll probably get bored! If you are looking to stay for a couple of days, we included some recommended hotels in the next section.

Antiparos hotels for your stay

If you are looking to stay on Antiparos for a couple of days, we recommend the following hotels:

  • Galanis Place: a lower budget apartment in a traditional whitewashed house with balcony and kitchenette
  • Yannis Maria Rooms: Located just 50 meters from the local market and a 6 minute walk from the beach, this is a lovely hotel that offers comfortable rooms with balcony.

Antiparos best beaches within walking distance

In this section, we are sharing the best beaches Antiparos offers for visitors without transportation. Each sandy beach in this section is ideal if you are on Antiparos only for the day and want to keep things simple by just walking. This section is Antiparos best of walking distance beaches.

1. Antiparos camping beach, a nudist beach

nudist beach Antiparos

This nudist beach Antiparos offers is one of the best Antiparos beaches. Although this is a nudist beach, it is open to everyone but be prepared to see a lot of naked people, which is quite common on Greek beaches. However, fear not, the naturist section of the beach is on the east part and people wear suits on the rest of it.

This beach is very easily accessible by foot from Antiparos port, where you arrive by ferry. It is located between a small island and the main island so you can swim between both. From the town centre, follow the small streets to Dolphin Studios accommodation. From there, follow the main only road north of the town and keep to your right. Get across the next crossroad to the right of the camping and towards the sea.

This beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches on Antiparos with gorgeous and shallow crystal clear waters. Here the water is turquoise and the sand golden. The beach is quite a long strand so there is plenty of room for everybody. As it is opposed to a small islet and the water is shallow, you can walk to the islet in the water. This is the perfect beach for snorkelling and laying on the beach.

Note that there are few trees on the beach so there is no natural shade. If you are visiting in the summer, you will definitely want to bring an umbrella as days can get really hot at that time of the day!

There is a beach volley field on the beach and can get very busy between mid July and mid August.

2. Agios Spyridonas beach Antiparos

Agios Spyridonas Beach, one of Antiparos best beaches

Spyridonas beach is probably the closest beach from Antiparos port and one we really enjoyed spending the day at. It is a small strand of golden sand on the right of the port, past the town. It provides beautiful views on the town of Antiparos and is incredibly shallow for meters and meters! There are a few tamarisk trees that provide shade but you can also rent sunbeds for about €10 per day. We loved spending time here as it was very well protected from the wind and really close to all the cafés and restaurants.

3. Paralia Psaraliki (Psaraliki beach agios)

Psaralyki beach

Psaralyki beach Antiparos is located south, just a 10 minute walk south from Antiparos town. If you are coming by car, there is a decently big parking lot right next to the beach.

This beach is essentially two beaches in one with Psaraliki I, more for families and Psaraliki II for people looking for a bit more of a quiet time. The beach is a nice strand made of a mix of golden sand and small pebbles. The water is known for being of a beautiful and clear turquoise blue. The water is also shallow which is great if you like hanging out in the water or snorkelling.

The beach is known for being a bit windy and there is even a wind surfing school on the beach. On Psaraliki beach, you will find sunbeds with umbrellas that you can rent out for €5. There is also a café nearby for drinks. There is also a coca-cola van that comes to the beach during the high season. Note also that there are lots of tamarisk trees on the beach that also provide shade during the hot summer days.

Psaralyki beach is one of the best Antiparos beaches as it is quiet and close to the town and provides natural shade along with offering amazing blue waters! It is also perfect if you enjoy water sports as you have access to the windsurf school.

Antiparos Beaches for beach clubs

4. Fanari Beach

Fanari beach

Fanari beach is the one best beach in Antiparos for people who are looking for the best beach club Antiparos has to offer. You can access it by foot or by bicycle. It is a 15 minute walk from Antiparos port making it one of the most accessible beaches on the island.

The beach is a nice strand of golden sand with clear blue waters that become shallow quickly. The beach trees offer a lot of natural shade. Fanari beach is a beautiful beach, well organised where you will find the Time Marine Beach Bar. You can also get sunbeds for €5.

At the beach club, you can order food such as sandwiches, Greek salads and Greek food. The beach club also offers a swimming pool on site. The pool gives right on the sea which is really nice.

From Fanari beach, you have views on the island hills and the beautiful horizon. The ambiance here is quite relaxing with vining music, palm trees, and stylish decor. You can also rent out the beach club for parties, and events.

5. Soros Beach

Soros Beach Antiparos offers a beach bar where you can get food and drinks. The beach bar also plays music in the background so it is perfect if you are looking to vibe to the music. At the beach bar, you’ll find some lounge chairs as well (€30 per day). Some acknowledge that this beach reminds them of Mykonos, one of the most popular party islands in the Cyclades!

The beach is a long and beautiful golden coarse sand strand with clear and deeper waters. It is easily accessible as it lays by the road.

To access the beach, you will need a car or you can choose to rent bicycles in town. You can also take the bus to Soros beach from Antiparos port in the summer.

Antiparos beaches for sunset

6. Livadia Beach

sunset at Livadia beach on Antiparos

Livadia Beach is known as the best sunset beach Antiparos offers, especially in the summer. This beach is actually two beaches made of a long strand of white thin sand. It is one of the only white sand beaches on the island. It is surrounded by rocky cliffs and offers beautiful clear blue waters.

The beach is unorganised and does not offer shade so you will need to bring your own umbrella, food and drinks.

It is located on the North West coast of the island so we would recommend avoiding it on windy days. Indeed, on windy days, the sun flies everywhere and the water gets rough making it hard to swim. Another down side to Livadia beach is the amount of plastic the wind and waves bring to the beach. We would not recommend Livadia beach for swimming or snorkeling. Instead, go to the South or East coast (see below). However, it is perfect to visit at night for the golden hour and sunset. The sunset here is incredible and will end a perfect day with the best touch!

7. Paralia Sifneiko, the perfect beach Antiparos offers for sunsets

Sifneiko beach Antiparos

Sifneiko beach is one of the beaches Antiparos offers that we would only recommend for sunsets.

Sifneiko beach is a long strand made of a mix of sand and pebbles with blue waters. The water here can be a bit rough as it is exposed to the Northern winds. For that reason, the beach isn’t the cleanest one with lots of bits of plastic and garbage everywhere. This is not a beach we would go to for the day and it is not the best beach for snorkelling at all.

However, it is located on the North side of the island, making the perfect place to be at Golden Hour and to watch the sun set over the island. From Sifneiko beach, you have a beautiful view over the horizon!

Sifneiko beach is also just a 15 minute walk from Antiparos port so it is easily accessible at any time. To get there, you will need to go across the village towards the North West and follow the main road. To give you an idea, it is located to the West of the camping.

Antiparos beaches by car

Some of Antiparos beaches are accessible by car or ATV only as they are a bit farther from Antiparos port than the others on this list. Although they can be more difficult to access due to dirt roads and lack of parking, they are some of the best beaches in the world that you should definitely visit if you’ve got time. They are also some of the most romantic beaches on Antiparos! Here we are talking white sand, turquoise calm waters and stunning landscape!

8. Agios Georgios beach Antiparos

Agios Georgios

Agios Georgios beach, also known as Kako Rema beach and Vathis Volos beach, is located on the South West of the island. It is a long strand of golden sand with  shallow crystalline water perfect for a day in the sun. It offers beautiful views of the Despotiko bay as well.

The beach is organised with two tavernas and a café. You can rent two sunbeds for about €15 a day or alternatively, you can use the shade from the Tamarisk trees. Parts of the beach are sheltered from the wind while some other parts are more exposed.

There are a few rocks in the water so you’ll appreciate having some swimming shoes.

9. Faneromeni beach, the wildest and best Antiparos beach

Farenomeni beach, one of the most secluded Antiparos beaches

Form the white sand to the unusual landscape, Faneromeni beach is a gorgeous beach located in the very south of the island. It is quite secluded making it one of the most romantic and quiet beaches on Antiparos. The strand is made of thin white sand and clear turquoise waters. The shallow and clear waters make it a perfect spot for snorkeling.

This wild beach is shaped similarly to a tunnel with land on each side protecting it from the wind, making it one of the best Antiparos beaches to escape the northern winds. Its shape reminds us of Sarakiniko beach on Milos Island which we visited and loved!

Faneromeni beach is unorganised so you will need to bring your own food and drinks with you.You can access the beach via a dirt road which is not very well maintained so you will need to drive really slow and be very careful with your car. Some people also rent bicycles in Antiparos village for about €5 for the day and bike all the way to Faneromeni beach. Although this is an option, note that it might be a bit difficult if you are not experienced.

This beach is referred to as the best beach on Antiparos and “Paradise on earth” so if there is one beach you should see, this is the one!

10. Paralia Panagia

Paralia Panagia

Panagia beach is one of the best beaches on Antiparos and is often called Psaralyki III as it sits just a bit south of Psaraliki I and II. It is a long strand of coarse sand with shallow clear waters and natural shade from the Tamarisk trees. The beach is known for being a bit protected from the wind which is nice if you enjoy spending time on the beach without getting sand flying everywhere! Part of this beach is also nudist although there are lots of sections where people wear bathing suits.

The beach is very natural and authentic. It is not organised although there is one restaurant a bit behind the beach just a couple of minutes away. The sand on Panagia beach is thin with no rocks if you walk a bit further down. The water is crystal clear with a blue that you will want to remember forever.

Although the beach is narrow, there is plenty of space for everybody.

11. Glyfa beach

Glyfa beach

Glyfa beach is one of the most accessible beaches on Antiparos as it sits right next to the main road. It is a long strand of coarse grain golden sand which offers views on Paros Island just on the opposite side. The beach offers natural shade from the tamarisk trees. The water here is clear and beautiful, perfect for snorkelling or just bathing and chatting with your partner.

Glyfa beach is not organised so you will need to bring food and drinks if you are staying for the day.

Glyfa beach is also known for being a great beach to watch the sunrise from. It is also a bit less crowded than its neighbour Psaraliki.

12. Paralia Sostis

Sostis beach

Agios Sostis beach is one of the best beaches on Antiparos for tanning and snorkeling. It is a stunning beach located in the South of the island between Faneromeni beach and Soros beach. It is one of those beaches that feel like paradise on earth and that you’ll never want to leave. Actually, it makes us think of Palombaggia beach in Corsica, a famous French island.

The beach is smaller than some of the others and well protected on each side in case of wind. Here you will find white thin sand and turquoise clear waters perfect to spend an unforgettable day! The beach is unorganised but there are a few trees that provide shade.

The road to access Sostis beach is known to be a bit rough so make sure you have got the appropriate vehicle to go down there.

13. Paralia Monastiria

Paralia Monastiria, one of Antiparos best beaches

Monastiria beach is quite the hidden gem on Antiparos and is possibly the best beach antiparos beaches count! It is a very secluded and wild beach on the West Coast of the island. Although it sits on the West Coast, it is well protected by tall hills on each side which protect the beach from the strong winds.

The beach is accessible by car although you will have to go through a bit of a rough dirt road to get there. It is advised to park about 2 km from the beach and finish on foot to be safe.

Monastiria beach is a short strand of golden thin sand that gives on calm turquoise and clear waters. The view on the horizon and the mountains is incredible! There are very few trees on the beach so we recommend bringing your own umbrella! The beach is also not organised.

This is the perfect beach to get away from the crowds and enjoy a calm and relaxing day together.

Antiparos beaches accessible by hiking or boat

14. Paralia Siopi

Paralia Siopi is located between Soros beach and Sostis beach. It is a very secluded beach that offers amazingly clear waters. It is made of pebbles which keeps the water extremely clear. The beach is only accessible by car and hiking. We would recommend heading there in the morning and bringing lots of food and drinks with you as there is absolutely nothing else than the beauty of the place here.

15. Epitafios beach

Epitafios beach is located on the South West of the island and is a rocky area with sea caves. This is one of the best beaches in Antiparos for its amazingly clear waters and rocky areas. Epitafios reminds us of Kleftiko beach on Milos island. It is only accessible by boat, either by hopping on one of the organised cruises or by renting your own boat.

16. Μικρό Μοναστήρι

Μικρό Μοναστήρι

Μικρό Μοναστήρι is a beach on the West coast of Antiparos. It is only accessible by boat or by hiking. It is a narrow strand off the coast with amazing clear waters and is quite a bit secluded. It can be considered by some as the best beach Antiparos offers for its uniqueness.

Best restaurants Antiparos offers

From our experience, Margarita Café is a great place for breakfast, brunch or just drinks like bottled water in the afternoon. Acaba is also great for breakfast.

For traditional Greek cuisine with a view on the sea, head to Taverna Peramataki. The service is fast and the food is delicious. Some of the favourites on the menu include the spinach pie, the roast chicken with potatoes and of course, seafood.

Pavlos Place is another great alternative for seafood and Greek cuisine. It is a family run taverna which offers traditional dishes for great value.
