Can unmarried couples check in at the hotels in the US?
Absolutely! We have had the pleasure of traveling to the United States on several occasions, whether it was driving from Arizona to Utah or embarking on an unforgettable road trip along the beautiful West Coast. Marie even had the opportunity to live in the charming small town of Bonners Ferry for a while, and she also traveled with her divorced parents. Throughout all our travels in the US, no one has ever asked us about our marital status when checking into hotels. We never had to specifically look for hotels for unmarried couples near California or anywhere else, it was just a given that being unmarried was not an issue.
What about hotels for unmarried couples near Texas you may ask? Even though there is some debate about Oklahoma being in the south, this state can sometimes also be assimilated with a more conservative culture. While it’s true that certain southern states, such as Texas and Tennessee, are more conservative, it is still not a problem for unmarried couples to rent a hotel room. In fact, there are even possibilities to book hourly hotel rooms or hourly hotels specifically designed for people who want to enjoy a stay with someone other than their spouse. However, it’s important to note that hotels are allowed to establish their own policies. Some hotels may require additional information, such as your age or marital status, in accordance with age restrictions or other regulations. However, based on our personal experience, we have never encountered any hotels that ask for this information.
So, if you’re wondering whether an unmarried couple can share the same room in an American hotel, the answer is a resounding yes, no matter if you are staying at romantic cabins with hot tubs in Oklahoma or elsewhere! We especially recommend sharing a room in one of the historical hotels on Route 66 or in one of the hotels near Yosemite National Park. There are many romantic activities to do throughout the USA from romantic activities in Santa Barbara to romantic date ideas in Dallas. Wherever you decide to spend time with your partner, you can both enjoy your stay in the US without any concerns about your marital status.
Just remember, there is no need to search for “hotels for unmarried couples near me” or “best hotel for unmarried couples near me” as that’s not a concern in the USA.

In 2022, stricter laws were announced, initially implementing a complete ban on unmarried couples sharing rooms, even for tourists. The laws also included penalties for engaging in pre-marital sex, which could result in up to a year of jail time.

Dubai hotels for unmarried couples
In the past, Shariah Law in Dubai strictly prohibited unmarried couples from sharing a hotel room, aligning with the cultural norms of many Islamic countries where premarital sex is also considered unacceptable. However, in recent years, since 2020, Dubai has made efforts to relax its laws and enhance its international image. Note however that hotels will not accept local IDs of couples who are unmarried so it’s easier if your IDs are international and your tourist status is unquestioned.
As of now, it is generally tolerated and legal for unmarried couples, especially tourists, to share a hotel room in Dubai. However, it’s important to note that conservative attitudes still prevail in certain areas. Public displays of affection, while not illegal, are frowned upon and considered socially unacceptable. This is particularly important to keep in mind when interacting with locals or visiting more traditional or conservative places like the old town.
When staying in Dubai, it’s advisable to be mindful of cultural sensitivities and abide by local customs. This will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience during your visit. Dubai offers a wealth of attractions, from stunning architecture to world-class shopping and dining, and you can explore all of it with your partner while adhering to the local norms and guidelines.

Hotels for unmarried couples in Islamabad
Islamabad, being located in a Muslim country, has stricter rules when it comes to unmarried couples sharing hotel rooms. While it is unclear whether it is illegal or not, it is definitely not widely accepted by the local society.
Pakistani hotels may ask for your marital status, and it has been reported by travelers that locals can also report unmarried couples to the authorities. We haven’t heard anything about practices like a police raid in OYO rooms but it’s not impossible there. Additionally, there have been instances where the police have attempted to extort money from unmarried couples.
Which hotel is best for unmarried couples in Islamabad?
Based on our experience and recommendations from both locals and fellow travelers, there are certain precautions you can take to ensure a safer and more comfortable stay. It is advisable to book hotels that are at least 5-star and have a western connotation, such as Marriott. Avoid public displays of affection, as they are not culturally accepted in Pakistan. Instead of booking a single room, consider booking two rooms next to each other to maintain a level of discretion.
You can also search for “OYO rooms for unmarried couples”. That search will come up with a list of hotels that accept unmarried couples and will save you from any bad surprises on site.
To minimize any potential risks, it is recommended not to take chances if you are unmarried and a hotel asks for your marital status. It’s also a good idea to check for any surveillance cameras in your room to ensure your privacy. This is an issue many travelers have had to deal with in foreign countries where privacy laws aren’t as strong as in France or the USA. Booking your accommodation online in advance can also provide an added layer of security and convenience.
