It is also one of the cheap beach Europe destinations. Before booking our trip to Paros, we had heard a lot about Santorini, but not so much about Paros. Why is going to the best beaches in Paros a good activity for couples on a budget?

Paros Island is actually a great destination for couples on a budget. Paros is equipped with an airport, which isnโ€™t the case of some of the other Cyclades Islands like Ios Island. Flights usually include a layover in Athens and a connection to Paros. They are usually a lot cheaper than Santorini depending on the season you are visiting.

Paros Island also has a port, from which you can take a ferry to the other islands or arrive by ferry from the other Greek Islands.

That said, the true budget-friendly advantage of Paros is that public transportation is very good on the island. When we visited, we took the bus everyday for only a couple of euros. The bus schedule is available at Paros bus station and easy to navigate.

The other big advantage of Paros is that renting an ATV there is super easy and quite cheap. We paid โ‚ฌ50 for a full 24 hours of adventure. As we are a couple, we split the cost between the two of us which made it even cheaper.

Between the bus and renting an ATV, we got to see most of the island and relax a lot, since neither of us had to drive.

Finally, in contrary to beaches in Italy, and alike beaches in Milos, the beaches in Paros are free to access. The bus drops you off, usually a couple minutes from the beach. After a short walk, you can easily find a spot on the beach with no admission fee. If you would prefer, most Paros beaches also offer sunbed which are usually around โ‚ฌ10 for the day. However, you donโ€™t have to rent a sunbed to have access to the beach.

Overall, going to the best beaches in Paros is fairly straighforward, cheap and struggle free!

How to get to the best Paros beaches

There are several ways to get to Paros best beaches. As mentioned above, the bus or renting an ATV are two very common ways that tourists use to get around the island and go to the beach.

The bus is great, however, it doesnโ€™t go to every beach on the island. For example, it doesnโ€™t go to Kolymbithres beach, which is such a shame as this beach is one of the best beaches in Paros. Instead, the bus drops you off in Naoussa, from where you can take a boat shuttle to reach those hidden beaches. That said, those boat shuttles do not always operate. For example, when we tried to go to Kolymbithres beach, the boats couldnโ€™t operate because it was a windy day. We were left at the port with no other option than to go to a different beach. It is because we wanted to visit more beaches than the ones accessible by bus that we chose to rent an ATV.

Just like you can rent an ATV, you can also rent scooters or buggies. A great place to rent those would be Parikia Village or Naoussa Village.

You could also rent a car as most beaches have at least a small free carpark. That said, if you choose to rent a car, we would recommend booking in advance as prices go up closer to the time. Paros Island is more of a small island so the number of cars can be limited, especially during peak season.

In our experience, it was very safe driving around Paros, even with the ATV at night. Road sin Paros are well maintained and overall everyoneโ€™s driving skills, although not amazing, are okay. If you have driven in Ireland before, you will be fine!

Some of the beaches are also accessible by walking. It is the case of Parikiaโ€™s beach which is located just at the entrance of the town, a few minutes away from its windmill.

Insider Tip: If you choose to go around Paros by bus, reserve one day of your trip to rent an ATV or a car to visit those beautiful remote beaches.

Santorini Best beaches vs Paros best beaches

Are Paros beaches better than Santorini beaches? To be honest, yes and no! Paros beaches are perfect for snorkelling as the turquoise water is very clear. There are lots of fish in the water as well, at least on some of the beaches. Paros beaches also have very thin sand. Most of them are equipped with a bar or a restaurant and easily accessible

The surrounding scenery of the beaches in Paros is very similar from one beach to another. Most fo them were long golden sand strands with a few exceptions.

Santorini best beaches are also quite amazing but in a different kind of way. In Santorini, it is usually the scenery around the beaches that gives them that special touch. Thatโ€™s also the case of Milos Island which is home to Sarakiniko beach, also called, the moonscape for its incredible rock formation. For example, Vlychada beach is protected by tall and large cliffs carved in by the wind creating lots of small canyon. Itโ€™s quite a unique style. Red beach is obviously also impressive as the red rocks reflect on the beach. Koloumbos beach is another incredible quiet beach, surrounded by a big rock formation made of lava and entering the sea.

However, in Santorini, we havenโ€™t found ourselves snorkelling too much. The water was often opaque or not as clear as Paros. One beach we liked for snorkelling was Red beach. Note also that some non-aggressive sharks can be found on the coast of Santorini.

On both islands, we found that there was a lot of room on the beach and never struggled to find quiet spots!

The best beaches in Paros, Greece

1. Golden Beach, one of the best beaches in Paros for snorkelling

Well, its name speaks for itself ! Golden beach, also called Chrissi Akti, in Paros is indeed gold ! With beige thin sand and beautiful clear water, you won’t want to miss it. Here’s a few things to know:

  • Golden Beach is accessible by car and bus from Parikia and Naoussa.
  • It’s located on the east coast of the island.
  • There are sunbeds on the beach. However, if you walk a little bit, you will find lots of room without having to rent any.
  • You will find lots of water activities from tubes to wakeboarding and waterskiing. Prices range from 20โ‚ฌ to 40โ‚ฌ depending on the number of participants and duration of the activity.
  • Although it was quite windy on the island when I was there, we found the water to be calmer than we expected.
  • You will find restaurants on the beach and probably washrooms too.
  • We recommended heading to the end of the beach for snorkelling but also to take photos. The best time to take good photos on Golden Beach is during golden hour. When sharing your photos on social media, don’t forget to use these cute beach captions!

2. Logaras Beach

Logaras Beach is located a bit before Golden Beach. It’s a smaller beach but is one of the top beaches in Paros, Greece. It has the same thin sand and clear blue water. Here’s a few things to know about it

  • It is accessible by car (with free parking) and by bus that drops you off right by the beach which makes it super easy if you have kids or can’t walk far.
  • I recommend bringing watershoes as at some spots there can be pebbles or smaller rocks.
  • I also recommend getting a massage. You might see a couple walking on the beach and offering to give you one. Do yourself a favor and say yes ! For two massages ( my boyfriend and I) of 20min each, we paid 35โ‚ฌ instead of 40โ‚ฌ total. Don’t be afraid to negociate a little.
  • There is at least one restaurant on the beach. You will find food and drinks and public washrooms as well.

3. Punda Beach

Punda beach is located a bit before Golden Beach, by a beach club. Paros nightlife happens in the towns but also on the beach. On Punda beach, you can relax during the day or party in the evening. It looks a lot like Golden beach and everything is as beautiful. Here’s a few things to know

  • It has a big parking for cars and is also accessible by bus from one of the main towns.
  • If you come by bus, be aware you have to walk about 5 min downhill (and then uphill on the way back).
  • When you get to the beach, the people from the beach club will most likely jump on you and explain to you that the beach is private and that you have to rent sunbeds for 40โ‚ฌ (which is way overpriced compared to the other beaches). Know that it is NOT true. Only the area where they are is private, but the rest of the beach is public and has a few trees where you can find some shade. However, I suggest bringing an umbrella and save yourself 40โ‚ฌ.
  • If you walk to the public side of the beach, you will also be further from the music and it will be a lot quieter.
  • If you like Beach Clubs however, this is the place for you, you will enjoy sunbeds, drinks, food and music.

4. Kolymbithres Beach, the best beach in Paros for a unique scenery

Kolymbithres beach is absolutely beautiful ! If you have been to the Lavezzi Islands in Corsica, you will definitely love this beach. It is definitely one of Paros best beaches. It is quite popular but there isn’t too many people as buses don’t come all the way there.

There you will find sunbeds and restaurants although they are more in the back. There is lots of room to park.

For this island, I decided to not rent a car and access beaches by bus. However, there are beaches whose access is a little more complicated. Here is how you can access this beach:

  • You can take the bus from Parikia to Naoussa. Then you will have to take a taxi boat to this beach. Note that, if it’s very windy, the taxi boat do not work. That’s what happened to us.
  • If you are wondering what to do in Paros, you can rent a quad/ATV to get to Kolymbithres beach. It’s a lot of fun and that is the option we picked. You will need a valid driver licence. It is really safe and easy to drive there.
  • With the quad, we decided to go to all the beaches that are not accessible by bus. These beaches are in the Naoussa Bay and are definitely worth a look ! You will find them below.

5. Monastiri Beach

Monastiri beach is named after the nearby monastery of Agios Ioannis and is located in Paros Park, which is free to enter. We really liked Monastiri beach ! It is located more in the north but still in the Naoussa Bay. We went there with the ATV and it is accessible by car too. If you donโ€™t want to drive, you can take the bus to Naoussa and then take the taxi boat from Naoussa. Alternatively you can take the bus to Kolymbithres and hike for 30 minutes. One thing to know is that there are two beaches.

  • The first one when you arrive is quite long and nice with no sunbeds. You can park very close to it which makes it easy if you can’t walk much.
  • The second one is a bit further down. You will have to enter the “port”. There you will find a parking lot that was actually quite crowded when we went. This second beach is full of sunbeds and was quite busy. I only went there to check it out bu stayed at the first one as it was a lot less busy and a lot quieter.

6. Perikopetra beach and Turkou Ammos beach

Perikopetra beach and Turkou Ammos beach are both also located in Paros Park. They are just a short hike away from Monastiri beach. They are both quieter than Monastiri beach but with the same advantages and great views.

7. Santa Maria Beach, one of the best beaches in Paros for a drink

We went to Santa Maria beach in Paros by the end of the day to check it out. It is a beautiful beach and a lot longer than all the beaches mentioned above. There are literally tons of sunbeds, and restaurants, and activities. It’s a lot more touristy and has several beach clubs. If you want to enjoy Paros nightlife, it’s a good beach to stop by at the end of the day and enjoy a drink by the beach.

  • There was people waiting for the bus so I assume you could get there by bus. However, I used the ATV.
  • I saw parts of the beach where you could lay down without having to rent a sunbed.
  • We had a drink there and rested a bit while the sun was starting to go down.
  • It was enjoyable but I probably wouldn’t make it my number one beach as it was quite crowded and load at some restaurants.

8. Antiparos Beaches

Antiparos Beaches are located on โ€ฆ Antiparos island, of course ! To get there, you will need to either take the ferry from Parikia or bus down to Pounda and then take the ferry to Antiparos from there.

There are a few beaches on the island but we chose to stay on the northern part of the island. First, we actually crossed to the other side where we found a beach that wasโ€ฆnot great. There was tons of plastic in the “sand” and there were lots of waves. We planned to spend quite some time there, so we turned around and looked for a better beach.

Going there and back took us 20min so it wasn’t a big deal.

We decided to try the port beach. Antiparos is super cute and has quite a cute port. If you walk along the port to the end, you will turn right and see a beach. There are a few trees that we used for shade. The water was super clear and not deep at all. When I say this, I mean you could walk 1km and have water up to your knees at the highest ! It is perfect for kids. Also, it is very protected from the wind and not that long which makes it even more perfect for kids. We liked it cause we just sat in the water and talked !

Note that the sand was closer to lake sand than beach sand.

9. Livadia beach

Located in Parikia, Livadia beach is quiet during the day as most people are gone to the beach or to visit the island. From the village, Livadia beach is easily accessible by foot. If you are coming to Livadia beach, take the opportunity to take a stroll on the sea walk and in the village, especially in the late afternoon when temperatures drop a bit. You wonโ€™t regret visiting Parikia!

10. Parikiaโ€™s beach

Located by Alexandros Cafรฉ at the windmill, Parikiaโ€™s beach is just a few minutes from Anna Parikiaโ€™s studios, where we stayed during our week in Paros. You can rent a sunbed from a local restaurant for about โ‚ฌ10 with a drink. From the beach, you have views on the white washed houses of the village and the windmill at the top of the town.

We spent a few hours on this beach on our first day. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery while resting and figuring out the bus system.

11.Kalogeros beach, one of Paros best beaches for a spa treatment

Kalogeros beach is located on Parosโ€™ East coast. It is a Paros hidden gem by its beauty and specificity. The beach is made of sand and pebbles and is also protected from the wind which makes it one of the best beaches in Paros for windy days.

Kalogeros beach is surrounded by a big rock formation and is known for providing healing mud. People break a small chunk of off the cliffs and mix it with some sea water before applying it on their skin. After it is dried, you can rinse it in the water and tadaa, youโ€™ve got yourself a free spa treatment.

The beach is not organised so you wonโ€™t find any restaurant or bar here which is also what contributes to its charm.

Kalogeros beach is accessible by bus to Marmara, Marpissa or Pisa Livadi and then by walking 30 minutes towards the beach.

Insider Tip: Walking for 30 minutes is fine in the Spring or in the shoulder season but to be honest, we wouldnโ€™t recommend it during summer. There is little to no shade on the roads of Paros and it would suck to get a heat stroke on your vacation! Instead, rent an ATV or a buggie.

12. Molos beach

Molos beach is located just a short 5 minute walk north of Kalogeros beach.

It is a secluded, unorganised and quite beach which is perfect for couples who are looking for some peace and quiet. The water is clear and is perfect to go snorkelling together. The beach also offers great views on the mountains.

On the South end of the beach, youโ€™ll find a traditional seafood tavern if you want to have a special romantic lunch. You can also bring a picnic for a cute lunch together.

13. Faragas beach

Faragas beach is one of the three small beaches arranged in a row in the south of the island. It has golden sand, and is well protected from the wind.

It is organised with a beach bar and sunbeds in the centre beach. The other two beaches on each side are unorganised and quieter. There is also a big rock formation which is perfect if you like snorkeling.

This is one of Parosโ€™ best beaches as you can choose  between grabbing a cocktail at the beach club or read in a quiet spot and change your mind in the middle of the day!

14. Parasporos beach

Parasporos beach is a sandy beach with calm water located only 9 minutes away from Parikia. It has two beach clubs which provide all day music and organise beach parties. If you are looking for a quite time, this might not be ideal. However, if you are looking to have a drink at the beach and have a good time, this is one of the best beaches in Paros for that!

15. Glyfa beach, one of Paros best beaches for a quiet time

Glyfa beach is a secluded and tranquil beach made of pebbles and sand. The water is, just like on the other Paros beaches, super clear. There are lots of trees for shade which is great if you donโ€™t want to bring your own umbrella. There are no facilities on site, so make sure to bring your own snacks and water.

16. Piso Livadi beach

Piso Livadi beach is located right next to the village of the same name.  With clear and shallow water, it is a quiet beach on Paros Island. As Piso Livadi is a fishing village, there are lots of restaurants close by who offer fresh seafood. The beach has sun beds but if you donโ€™t want to rent one, there is lots of natural shade.

You can easily get it by bus.

17. Piperi Beach

Piperi beach is one of the three beaches located in Naoussa with Piperaki and Agii Anargyri. This beach can get very windy as it is located is the North of the island and it is also rocky in the water. It offers beautiful views on the white washed houses of Naoussa, just behind the beach.

This is a great beach for swimming but if it gets really windy, you might want to pick a different one.

18. Aliki beach

Alikia beach is one of the best beaches in Paros located next the largest fishing village on Paros called Aliki. It has thin sand, clear and calm water and is perfect for swimming. The beach is organised with sunbeds and a tavern.

19. Piso Aliki and Agios Nikolaos

Located right by Aliki beach, these two beaches are a little bit quieter, with a mix of sand and pebbles. They are better than Aliki beach if you are looking for some quiet time together!

20. Laggeri beach

Laggeri beach is a remote and tranquil beach located in a bay which is protected from the wind. This is one of the best beaches in Paros for some quiet and romantic time with your partner.

Now this is also a popular nude beach, as there are a lot in Greece. You can of course show up with a swim suit but be prepared to see some bottoms!

The road to get to Laggeri beach is rather poorly maintained so getting there by car isnโ€™t the easiest. You can drive to the closest white church and park there. Then, you can rent an ATV near the church and get down to the beach this way.

Another way to get to Laggeri beach is by taking the taxi boat from Naoussa. Remember that those taxi boats donโ€™t always operate and might be cancelled due to the weather.

This beach is unorganised so you should bring own food and drinks.

21. Agia Irini beach

Agia Irini beach is located on the West coast. It is also called Palm beach due to the lane of palm trees on the beach. Those trees provide nice shade.

It is one of the best beaches in Paros to escape the wind. The beach is narrow and protected on each side so the wind wonโ€™t reach you. It also has beautiful clear waters perfect for a swim and interesting snorkeling.

There is a beach club on one end of the beach where you can rent  subbed and have a cocktail. If you are looking for some peace, you can go to the other end of the beach.

22. Trinity beach, one of the best beaches in Paros for a romantic time

Trinity beach is a hidden gem of Paros . It is very secluded and therefore perfect for a romantic getaway. It is unorganised and features clear blue waters with some rocks which is great for a good snorkelling experience.
