7. Iconic Walk of Fame, one of the best places to go to in Los Angeles

Get ready to dive into the heart of Hollywood’s film industry by exploring the iconic Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, now known as the TCL Chinese Theatre. When we visited LA, this was one fo the stops I (Marie) was most excited for!

As you walk along the Walk of Fame, you’ll encounter the famous stars embedded in the sidewalk, each representing a beloved celebrity. However, we must admit that it didn’t live quite up to the hype. The Walk of Fame is located in a long avenue that’s not one of the best looking. There were weird characters hanging around and very little entertainment as well. Parking was also difficult to find and I can’t imagine that it would have improved since!

Even then, it still holds a special allure and serves as a tribute to the entertainment industry.

The Walk of Fame truly shines when a celebrity is honored with their star being added to the prestigious list. Witnessing one of these ceremonies adds an extra touch of excitement and allows you to be a part of Hollywood history. Who knows, you might get lucky!

Adjacent to the Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre stands as a symbol of Hollywood’s golden age. You can explore its rich history and be amazed by the magnificent architecture. You can even catch a movie screening or attend a special event if timing aligns.

Best time to visit LA

If you’re planning a trip to Los Angeles, it’s essential to consider the best time to visit to make the most of your experience. The hottest months in LA are from May to September, offering warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. However, keep in mind that even though it’s hot outside, the ocean water can still be chilly. If you’re looking to avoid the scorching heat, it’s best to plan your visit during the spring or fall when the temperatures are milder and more comfortable. Note however that spring can be really cold in LA! I (Marie) visited Los Angeles in April and was wearing my winter coat, a scarf and gloves because the wind was freezing!

These seasons also tend to have fewer crowds, allowing you to enjoy popular attractions without feeling overwhelmed. Be aware that parking can be a nightmare during the summer months, particularly near the Santa Monica Pier. I remember how we drove around for an hour trying to find a parking space to go to the pier at the end of the day!

Lastly, it’s important to note that LA winters are colder than people imagine, so if you visit during that time, be prepared for cooler temperatures and windy conditions.

How to get around LA

When it comes to getting around Los Angeles, there are a few options to consider. Renting a car is often the easiest and most convenient way to navigate the city. It’s the one we recommend! You can easily rent a car through different platforms. We recommend this one, which offers a wide selection of vehicles to choose from. Having a car gives you the freedom to explore various neighborhoods and attractions at your own pace.

Alternatively, rideshare services like Lyft and Uber are readily available in LA. While they offer convenience, it’s important to keep in mind that the costs can add up, especially if you’re traveling long distances or during peak hours.

Public transportation in LA, like many cities in the USA, may not be the most reliable option. However, if you’re looking to experience the local transit system, you can use buses to get around. Just be sure to check the schedules and plan your routes accordingly.

Ultimately, renting a car gives you the most flexibility and convenience to explore Los Angeles on your terms.
